Abhishek Nayar is a hard hitting left-hand batsman and right-hand medium pacer. Abhishek has demonstrated that he can be handy at different positions in the batting order, and can also win matches with his bowling. He made his first class debut with the Mumbai team in the 2005-06 Ranji Season and played crucial knocks, as his team won the tournament. He also scored a century against the Karachi Urbans in the Mohammad Nissar Trophy, a century against Tamil Nadu in a Ranji match and took a five-wicket haul in the next match.He was signed by the Mumbai Indians for the inaugural IPL, and he turned in excellent performances. He scored 206 runs, with a top score of 45, took four catches and one wicket in the tournament. He was the only team member besides Sanath Jayasuriya to play every game in the first season.
