Short Profile:
Since his debut in 2000, Zaheer Khan alias Zak has provided Team India the missing punch in its pace attack. In fact his outstanding debut performance was one of the crucial factors that took India into the finals of the Champions Trophy. Since then he has admirably partnered with other bowlers to fashion India’s test victories abroad. His performance in the 2003 World Cup was also vital to India reaching the final of the tournament. His subsequent match winning performances have spanned England, India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and New Zealand. In the recent series against New Zealand, he formed a potent new ball combination with other bowlers to contribute to India’s first series win in New Zealand in 41 years. Besides his bowling, Zaheer Khan is also a useful lower order bat who continues to chip in with highly useful partnerships.Zak played for Bangalore Royal Challengers in the first IPL and was their highest wicket taker. He was traded in the second edition to return to his domestic home side, the Mumbai Indians, for whom he is looking forward to score big on all fronts.
