Short Profile:
Dhawal Kulkarni finished the first IPL season as the joint second highest wicket taker for the Mumbai Indians. He formed efficient new ball partnerships with Shaun Pollock and Ashish Nehra, and also acquired a knack for bowling towards the death as the IPL progressed. He ended the tournament with 11 wickets, with his best haul of 3/33.Dhawal’s cricketing career has been on ascendance since. He was recently included in the Indian test squad for the New Zealand tour. Earlier, he played for the Mumbai U-19 team, which toured New Zealand and Sri Lanka in 2007. He was unfortunate to miss out on a berth on the Indian team that played the U-19 World Cup but his performances were good enough for him to be selected for the Mumbai Ranji Super League team and the Mumbai Indians. In his debut Ranji season, Dhawal began with a five-wicket haul in his first match, and finished as top wicket taker with 42 wickets.
