Short Profile:
Sri Lankan Lasith Malinga has evolved to become one of his country’s main strike bowlers. He was instrumental in his team reaching the finals of the 2007 World Cup. Malinga has a unique sling like action, which makes it very hard for batsmen to read him, and he combines it with clever variations and raw speed. Malinga is the only bowler to have taken 4 wickets in 4 balls in an international match in the 2007 ICC World Cup in West Indies against a team like South Africa. In the short period in which T20 cricket has taken the world by storm, Malinga was unfortunate to be out of action for nine months due to a knee injury. He successfully finished his rehabilitation and made a comeback in the T20 games against India in February 2009. Malinga is all set to impress the world once more with his unique energy and action in IPL II.
